Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Humane Society of the South Platte Valley. Every day we rely on dedicated volunteers to help us with daily operations, quality of life for our animals, special events and adoptions of our dogs, cats and other animals that we have at our shelter.
Our mission is to be a leader in saving lives and serving communities by providing innovative care for our animals, finding loving homes, and reuniting families.
In order to achieve our mission we rely on people like you to donate their time, effort, skills, and funds so we can all succeed in saving our animals and educating the community on animal welfare. Volunteers provide a great resource for The Humane Society of The South Platte Valley your donated hours help our animals stay socialized, find loving homes, and help us receive grants and build a strong organization.
We ask you for a commitment to our animals. We want you to get as much out of the experience as we do. We will provide training and resources to make a safe, friendly, and learning environment for you. We currently hold at least two volunteer orientations/dog handling class a month. We also have an advanced dog handling class once a month for volunteers with at least 10 hours of dog walking experience. We are always working on new trainings to help our volunteers.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Children 12 and under are restricted from direct animal contact, dogs can be walked only with an adult maintaining control of the leash.
While we get many calls for large groups we may not always have a need or opportunity available, please keep this in mind and give us as much notice for a request as possible. We always appreciate the support. We can always use blankets and in-kind support, organizing a blanket drive or fundraiser in our name is always a great way to support us.
