Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley.

Every day we rely on dedicated volunteers to help us with daily operations, quality of life for our animals, special events, and adoptions of our dogs, cats, and other animals that we have at our shelter.
Our mission is to be a leader in saving lives and serving communities by providing innovative care for our animals, finding loving homes, and reuniting families.
In order to achieve our mission, we rely on people like you to donate their time, effort, skills, and funds, so we can all succeed in saving our animals and educating the community on animal welfare.  Volunteers provide a great resource for The Humane Society of The South Platte Valley. Your donated hours help our animals stay socialized, find loving homes, help us receive grants, and build a strong organization.
While we get many calls for large groups to volunteer, we may not always have a need or opportunity available. Please keep this in mind and give us as much notice for a request as possible. We always appreciate the support. We can always use blankets and in-kind support. Organizing a blanket drive or fundraiser in our name is always a great way to support us.

We look forward to having you on our amazing volunteer team! Here is how to start:
  1. You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer. If you are under 18 you must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times in order to volunteer, and are restricted from direct animal contact (dogs can be walked only with an adult maintaining control of the leash).
  2. Fill out a volunteer application. Applications can be picked up in person at the shelter or below
  3. Prior to volunteering you must attend a volunteer orientation session. Orientation sessions are held on the first Saturday of each month between 12:30 pm and 2 pm. These give information on the shelter, the volunteering opportunities we have available and, if you are interested in interacting with the dogs, some safety information.

We are appreciative of your interest and excited to see you in the future!
